Sliding Screen Doors
• Regularly clean the bottom screen door track of debris, small stones & pet hair with a dry brush or mini-vac. Do not wash down tracks with water.
• Following the screen door cleaning, lubricate the tracks with a good quality silicone spray lubricant. Do this 1-2 times/year or after heavy dust or windstorms.
• Introduce your pets to the screen door and train them to respect it, as you would with any other household fixture or furnishings.
Textilene / Solar Screens
Because it is so durable and made specificially to withstand the elements, Textilene screens are also easy to maintain. To prevent your screens from needing intense cleanings, it is advised to brush off any loose dirt and then hose down your screens or patio shades once per month with cool water. You may use a cleaning solution of water and a natural, mild soap. Use a soft bristle brush to apply. After a few minutes, rinse with cool, clean water and allow your screens to air dry. During windy or monsoon months, this is very important.
What size solar screen frames do you use?
We use a full 1” x 7/16” powder coated aluminum frame which is more expensive then most other installers because we have found that the aluminum frames are wider and last longer and help to resist bowing when the screen mesh and splines are installed.
Do you use plastic corners in your screen installations?
No, we use all metal corners and miter all of our joints to make sure the installation looks professional, so that it will hold up over time.
What is Textilene? Textilene® solar screen material is made up of woven PVC coated polyester yarn, which reduces heat transfer through windows by reducing solar heat gain and blocking harmful UV rays. The solar screens are fastened outside the home windows as solar window screens to give optimum performance of sun control, while letting you maintain excellent visibility.
The U.S. Dept. of Energy says, in its 1994 study, that shading the outside exposed windows or doors is the best way to stop heat build up. The Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Clearinghouse says that roughly 40% of heat build-up and heat loss is through windows and doors. External shading is the most effective home treatment to counter these effects. Shading the exposed windows and doors can reduce temperatures by as much as 20 degrees. Window shadings such as indoor window film or blinds or insulated drapes do not block, reflect, or absorb the solar rays before they pass through the glass.
The two most popular Textilene® Solar fabrics are the 80% and 90% products, which come in a multitude of colors and widths.
